[HW] Gemma (alone)

Gemma arrived home. Its classic hall stood in front of her. She left her handbag on the recently upholstered bench under the mirror, without even taking a glance at the image it reflected, and stepped inside the kitchen. Her laptop was there, as she had left it. She turned it on, and while it initiated she opened the fridge to discover, without any surprise, that it was totally empty. She looked hopefully to the white cupboards which faced her from the opposite side of the room, headed to them and tried her luck. Great! One of the milk bottles wasn’t out of date yet. She also found some cereals. Such a fantastic lunch.

She grabbed a bowl from the -also white- cupboard over the sink and poured some milk and all the cereals she had inside. Then she went back to her laptop, wrote the password and started eating. She didn’t even like those cereals. But she was so hungry… She opened skype and checked her online contacts. Obviously, he was still not there. It was only 14.50 and he said he wouldn’t arrive before 15.30. Tuenti, Facebook and cereals. 15.05. She left the bowl by the computer and went to the living room. The house seemed too big for her to be alone. It even seemed too big when it was full. She had never understood the point of living in such a big house. But it was her parent’s decision, not hers. And her bank account didn’t seem to be willing that to change.

She raised some of the blinds in the room and sat on the grey sofa in front of the TV. Not far from her lay the doll her little sister had given mom for her birthday. She took it and rocked it while she turned on the TV. Nothing interesting. Oh, wait, Gossip Girl. That kept her busy for half an hour. 15.45, there it was. She could hear the skype tone coming from the kitchen. She ran to the laptop -doll still with her- and answered the call.
